The goal of adding the humble beginnings of AAUW is to show that women were active in their community since the beginning of the twentieth century.

In showcasing the beginnings of AAUW, we are looking at documents from the Center for Pacific Northwest Studies. There, we collected various amounts of photographs to add to the centennial and promotional videos.

PAST

PRESent

When it comes to the present of AAUW, our hope is to shine a light on what the organization has done to give back to Whatcom County.

Future

From our understanding, AAUW wants to continue to empower women of all ages to stand up for themselves and their fellow women everywhere and to be passionate about their studies.

Interviews with younger members of AAUW will help us to understand how the next generation will carry on the organization. Interviews with current university students will better help us to understand what outreach needs to be done to get more women at the university level involved in AAUW.

This includes scholarships to students at Western Washington University, Whatcom Community College, Bellingham Technical College and Northwest Indian College.

AAUW is also very passionate in involving girls at a young age in the STEM field by sponsoring middle school girls to go to summer camp on the subjects.
